Al Smith - Poet
Al Smith Al Smith is a modern poet who writes about the United States, culture, politics, patriotism, memories and different glimpses into various stages of life.

At Road Records Mr. Smith recording four albums of poetry including two volumes patriotic poetry and a complete volume of poetry for children.

He plans to combine this project with several books he has written to market at public speaking engagements and education seminars. He is very "pro-america" in terms of patriotism and duty to country. His work is a battle cry for Americans to understand their responsibility for maintaining our freedoms and life values.

This project engineered and produced by Conrad Askland.

Engineering Notes from Conrad:
Al Smith - PoetThe challenge of this project was to take over two hours of audio, that's over 90 poems in all, and make it all sound even and consistent as if it had all been recorded the same day.

Beginning engineers might think that spoken word is the easiest to record, it's actually one of the hardest recording styles because there's nothing to hide behind. It's just a voice and any changes in environment or performance on the part of the spoken word artist needs to be handled with delicate care. It was a test of concentration to double check each and every line for consistency.

Al is an EXTREMELY gift poet with a great insight for various perspectives. We wish him the best of luck and hope to hear his work on National Public Radio soon!
